First - can I say that the work you're doing on this kit is top notch.
Secondly can I say that if you do re-scribe this kit then I'd be really interested to see how you do it. I build quite a lot of 'old' kits with raised panel lines and gave often thought that I should re-scribe them, but it's a process that scares me quite a lot.

Thanks Stuart. Yeah, I do quite a lot of old builds and I think its important that we have for ourselves an SOP (standard of procedures) that fits our habits and work behavior.
The approach for this aircraft is that I scribe first, then I sand off the raised detail afterwards. My SOP is usually the other way around: I sand off the raised detail till they are 50% off then do the re-scribing. The reason with the different approach? is because there are just so many rivets. the rivets are more prominent than the panel lines. I use many tools, the Hasegawa Tritools and various curve ruler from Tuner Models
the second step is to sand off the raised detail with a sandpaper foam. like this picture below. and I do this vigorously until all the raised details are gone. BTW, these sandpaper foams come in different roughness.. and you are supposed to use water when you use them.
the last bit is just doing some eye-balling on your work. bit of monitoring and evaluation. if there are still some raised lines then do the sanding again, and if the new panel lines aren't good enough, then we just have to trace them again slowly. It took me a bit more than 30 minutes to do just one side. I think the results really is worth it.
I mean, when I started the project, I kinda got use to of the raised and over-sized rivets cluttering every inch of the model. BUT once you see this clean surface, then I guess I might be missing out a lot of opportunities if i DID NOT decide to re-scribe the surface.

This is a very interesting aircraft. Kind of looks like a cross between a C-130 and a Martin Marlin.
