Lady, this is looking like a "real" aircraft´s scale model! The modifications you made don´t let this one look unrealistic, it is just fine!
Re: Frankenbird SBD Dauntless 1/72

That's pretty cool work! I'm already amazed at anyone who can detail something in 1/72 scale, let alone as much as you've done.

Hack and Slash?CallSignOWL wrote:I figured since the old forum went kaput, Ill restart this thread here.
So, a little background on this one
While waiting for stuff to dry on my -110 build, I decided to go crazy. I pulled out that 'ol Testors rebox of the hawk SBD--you know the one. The one with no cockpit, no wheel well, and markings scribed on the fuselage....and went to town.
The goal of this one is to see what I can scratch-build from plastic and my spares box.
pics for those unfamiliar with the kit
star insignia scribed into the fuselage? Why oh why?
interior devoid of any detail, with only plastic benched for the crew to perch on. And the Crew? …lets not go there.
recessed panel lines on a ’50s-era kit? aww, yah. But no gear wells?? Awww, no.
next comes the hacking and slashing!
I remember those guys

Sorry I missed your build...................
Kinda nostalgic seeing that kit again..............I built one of those kits a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away
