Great looking Crusader, Monty.
I wouldn't worry too much about those 'Winders. Even though it appears that Academy somehow molded them as AIM-9E (a modified B), you've painted them up as Ds. And they look the part, so you should consider that you "did it right".
All of the people that say they "can't see that 1mm" on a model wouldn't be able to tell the exact diameter of a 'Winders nose tip, anyway. You could have painted them as the "fat nosed" Bs and most people wouldn't notice.
Heck, you could build the Academy F-8J OOB, without any mods, and people won't know that Academy gave us F-8E landing gear without any of the F-8J changes.
If you do build a Jarhead version, be sure to post a pic and let us see that, too.
