Last March 6th I went with several friends to the Pasadena Valleycon 2016 contest held at the Petersen Automotive Museum. I entered eight models: seven small scale armor models and my Saturn V. My Saturn V was entered in Miscellaneous since George Creed didn't have a real space category. When the judging dust had settled, my Saturn V was awarded the Best Miscellaneous award:

If you look close, that little white spot at the base of the rocket is an astronaut who is the same scale as the rocket. That'll give you some sense of the size on this beastie.

Thanks for looking in...

Congratulations Duke!

Funny and practical detail to have the astronaut in the picture. First I thought it was just a scratch on the base...

That's why I pointed him out. I knew in the pics he looked like a flaw in the photo. I think my old Airfix Apollo Landing scene model where I got him from also has a lunar rover. I need to build that and have it available to display with this model at the next contest I can take it to.

:shoutout: Outstanding my friend! Congrats on another award to add to all you have brought home already. :dogwag: Now you need to do that space shuttle and pair them up for a contest entry... :giggles:

Thanks Carlos! I'm sure trying to finish that Space Shuttle, but man that thing is giving me a fight! I do hope to mask it soon and get the rest of it done. That will look great next to my Saturn V.

This past Saturday was the IPMS San Diego model contest. I took 10 models to enter. I figured I'd overwhelm these guys with quantity since my quality doesn't match up to most of the Masters who come here; so I threw a lot at the contest to see what would stick.

Something did stick....

This is my 1/72 scale T-90A tank entered in the Out of Box category. I took a Third Place in this category:

That was quite a surprise to me since that was a hotly contested category. I am thrilled to have placed in this category.

Thanks all for looking in.
