What is the most "tired" subject produced?

I've been bored silly the last few days. Don't want to mask the B-29. It is raining. So, I've been browsing ebay. Not really looking for anything in particular, but something that would grab my attention. So far, no joy.

I have noticed a few things, though.....
1) There are some really neat subjects in 1/72. Wish more of them were in 1/48. Why in Anigrand so danged expensive?
2) Could there be any more over produced subject than.....Mustangs, Spitfires, F4s, B-17, B-24, B-25, Me 109, and so on? Sheesh. Continually amazed at the number of these that get pooped out for consumption.

In your perfect world, what would you like to see banned from being made?

The Phantom.

I'm not kidding, since about 1965 or so, every 3 or 4 days someone "discovers" the F-4 Phantom, and we get treated to all of his "Phantom Knowledge". There are several dozen books, and hundreds of info articles, and even those publish different data at times. (errors)

I build 1/72, and there are enough accurate toolings (assuming Academy's 1/72 is good) to just Buy, Build, Repeat.

The problem with these "running around like mice" kits, is that the companies know they are money makers,,,,,so, if they don't have one in their catalog, they add one, just to make money. Of course, they have to make money to stay in business. So, we'll get another Phantom release in a couple of years.

I guess I should have picked something less often seen to concentrate my building on,,,,,,,,,like a Bf-109.

There might be more Tiger tank models then actual real Tigers,but that being said I enjoy building the diffrent varients.

F-4s, F-16s, F-15s, F-14s, F/A-18s, Spitfires, Bf-109s, FW-190s, Zeros,... the list goes on and on. Although it would nice to see a new tool of a B-52 though. I'd love to see a 1/72 scale VC-54C 'Sacred Cow' - the original "Air Force One".

I think everyone so far has hit on the kits that there seems to be an endless supply of out there. What about those kits that there used to be different variation of, but have disappeared completely or if they are out there, they are WAY overpriced. For example, I would love to find a 1/48 S-3 Viking kit that didnt have raised panel lines or at least one (even with raised panel lines) that wouldnt require me to remortgage my home just to buy the darn thing.

I really have to disagree here. Why? Because the industry mostly does models of aircraft that will sell for sure, as Fw 190, Bf 109, etc.? Here, maybe, you are right. About time the manufacturers to produce kits that not have been around so far, or of which the moulds are aged. I would love to see a 1/48 Do 24 flying boat! Or a large scale Ar 96 trainer aircraft! There still are lots of German types out there that deserve to be kitted.

Indeed I wouln´t see any aircraft kit to be banned. In the end it is each own´s decision to buy a kit or not. If you don´t want it, leave it in the store. Easy.
