1/32 Revell/Tamiya RF 4C "kitbash"

Post by Handiabled »

Hello all, A recent sudden death in the family halted pretty much all building/forum activity. I hope to get back at the bench soon. I had forgotten to throw this up on the "completed" board.. so here it is... The build is a tribute to my friends Larry Clark and Donnie Dixon of tail# 866 back in Viet Nam 1969. Larry flew it and Donnie was the crew chief of the bird.

This had a fairly long list of am pieces. A heavily modified Aries F-4C resin cockpit, Master Model brass pitot and bellows tube, modified Seamless suckers, modified Brassin MK 7 seats, Eduard pe, resin burner tubes, nozzles and pylons made by my friend Donnie Dixon, piano hinges by Archer and by Model Car Design, Isradecals and Woodland dry transfers, screws and nuts by Woodland Scenic. Eduard RBF ribbons. There were so many scratched together items in this build I honestly cannot remember them all, but the short list includes, the entire camera bay and doors with cameras, photo flash compartments, IP's front and back along with side counsels. The MK 7 seats were the Aries resin and Brassin seats combined, the Seamless suckers were ground down to accommodate the Tamiya intakes, all the hydro lines in the wheel bays as well as the aux air intakes. The landing gears were modified. all the correct panel lines were added as well as bd panels sanded down. I made decals for the placard and cockpit controls. The glare shield was also modified. It was painted in MM enamels and various shades on metalizer. I made a video of the build that covers most of the mentioned scratch building. I hope you enjoy. As always thanks for looking!

HOLY CRAP!!! :yikes: I am amazed at the numerous details you've put into this. Well done. You've done them proud!

Did I mention it's a beautiful kit? :beau:

Enjoyed your work also. I was in the 366th TAC Support Unit in 1968.
So many models.... so little time.
