Airfix 1/72 A6M2b-21 Zero

Post by jelliott523 »

My first Zero/Zeke! I had fun building this little guy, definitely wont be my last Japanese WWII aircraft. Not to mention, my first 1/72 prop I've ever done, had to get my "cheaters" out to do this one. Total build time on this was probably 6 hours.

Only 6 hours?? Must be hell of a kit, and a gifted modeller! :shoutout:

I really like this little Zero! The dusting on the panel lines looks amazingly good! Well done!

6 hours? How did you get the paint to dry that fast?

That is cumulative time, not in one sitting. I started it on a Thursday night, gluing main structures together and painting the internals. The assembly of this thing is simple, not many parts. I had everything together and seams filled in no time and then primered with Ammo of Mig Black primer. Was able to paint the bottom shortly after that using MM enamel thinned with lacquer thinner. Then I shot the top coat, MM enamel also thinned with lacquer. My building room is an upstairs bonus room and the temp is fairly warm this time of year, doesnt take long for things to dry...sometimes faster than I would like. Overall, the build was completed by Saturday late morning.

Ah ha, that explains a lot. But stil a fast build. Or maybe I am just slow.
