1/48 Tamiya Heinkel He 219 A-0 NJG1 "Ernst-Willheim Modrow"

Post by lawdog114 »

Hello, I thought I would share my "other" latest build. I built this and Schilling's P-47 at the same time. It was my first "determined" adventure into tandem builds and won't be my last. I sort of enjoyed switching gears from 8th Air Force to Luftwaffe.

Anyways, it's the Tamiya A-7 I backdated to a A-0 in the NJG1 markings of Ernst-Wilheim Modrow who was a 34 kill ace with 33 of them being in the He 219. I used the the Vector conversion set, which includes some resin parts to make the conversion, most notably the 4 cannon belly insert and the second (and very fragile) Lichtenstein FUG 212 radar. The Vector replacement nose was found to be considerably undersized so I modified the kit part to match. I scraped the resin wing intakes since, at least to me, the risk didn't justify the reward :bag:

Thanks for looking. Comments and critcisms are welcome ..

Joe

This plane has some outlines that could easily fit into the 21st century.

Flawless build and, as always, mastership in handling the airbrush. When there is tiny room for imperovement it is the panel line wash. Some tone with lower contrast might had fit better into the ensemble.

Oh, and Kudos for not breaking the Radar!
Cheers,
Torben

Joe, this is yet another amazing piece of work.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Really like how the panel lines pop and the cammo painting, as well as the replica of an actual aircraft. :shoutout:
So many models.... so little time.
