1/72 Kamov Ka-25

This is the old Airfix kit, had started it MONTHS ago, finally got myself back in the mood for it over the past few weeks. These are my "99% photos", as there always seems to be SOMETHING that gets noticed at this point that requires a touchup! Built straight out of the box, decals were stolen from an Italeri Flanker kit, so, maybe not accurate, but much better than the kit decals.

As usual, questions/comments/suggestions are always welcome. Just keep it clean!

ANYWAY, I present you, my 2nd ever HELO:































Annnnnd, as much as I like the odd markings, and Yugoslav Navy would certainly count, I was NOT using the kit decals in this case:



It's not like they were any more colourful than the Soviet markings I went with.

Doing it again, I'd.... dull down the cockpit seats. (I saw references that bright green, but it's just a little too much) Probably leave the cargo door open. Shave off the molded-on wiper blades & polish out that spot. MAYBE a yellow or orange FOD plug for the rear?

I picked this one up at a second-hand store (with a $6 price tag, but I know I got a "regulars" discount) simply because it was odd-looking. But now that I see it done up in the scruffy overall gray, it's grown on me. Especially that "front quarter view". There is a lot going on there.

Vance, nice job on a truly UGLY craft! You made it look good. I think this thing flies because the earth repels it. Quite a sturdy bird, though. I'm sending you a pm regarding the decals.

Thanks Lyle! It's a Soviet workhorse for sure, built to a purpose rather than to look cute I suppose. I think Bsyamato built one of these a few years back also?? Got the PM as well, no problem at all!

Are those floats under the wheels?

Thanks Borg, I had some fun with something that is out of my usual subject range. And yes, from what I've been able to find out, these are "auxiliary floats", can't imagine there is enough support there to hold her afloat for long though.

Thanks BsYamato! Yes, I started this one then parked it for several months. Glad I got it back out though, I really like the final product.
