We had 1 or 2 of those at Da Nang in 68. Not exactly sure of their roles though.

By then most likely that would have been the end of their escort days. There was only one wing of 104Cs in the whole USAF, and it was not well suited for the strike role due to a small bomb load. In 1968 they were brought home and passed off to the Puerto Rico ANG soon afterwards.

Thank you sir. Yes, that is the second boxing of the Monogram 104C/G It has been re issued multiple times and really is a pretty nice kit. The detailing on the wings is actually more realistic when compared to the Hasegawa kit which went way overboard with the recessed rivets.

Looking really nice. Something about that SEA pattern that just screams "beast", no matter which aircraft it's on. Can't wait to see your 1/32 version!

Thank you sir! Yes, the SEA camo looks very mean on all the fast movers that ended up wearing it. The Century Series fighters went from sleek modern silver machines to dark birds of war with their camo schemes. I really like the earliest period like here with no tail codes and occasional nose art to liven them up. And I hope not to disappoint when I get around to my 32nd scale 104.

Well the Solvaset did the trick and the decals are now ready for sealing topcoats... but more heat has arrived and it is too dang hot to get in the garage to work right now... perhaps later this evening or tomorrow morning before we get more of the same...

And I feel your pain with pitot tubes. I broke the one off the nose of my Mirage F1 and had to order a metal replacement one. Not sure if it'll fix the nose though.

That does look really nice stick - Those F-104's looked really cool with the tip tanks.

I was always under the impression that the USAF wasn't a big user of the Starfighter.

Nice! I've always wanted to do a Starfighter kit again. Did one years ago in my youth years. I found a couple of cool NATO decals sets I like but it's for a F-104S Startfighter. I imagine I could get away with using it on a 1/48 scale G model.
