1/48 Hasegawa F-86 Saber F-30 334th FIS "Ralph Parr"

I have a restaurant near where I live that has a P-51 and P-47 on poles displayed in flight. They are real too but in the same condition with blacked out canopies...maybe the insides are gutted.

More than likely they have been stripped/cannibalized/gutted, and are not much more than a basic airframe now. The local base where I used to drill had a pole mounted UH-1C that had flown combat in SEA. When first mounted it had recently came off the flightline in decent condition (replaced by AH-1s). Over the years I watched it end up in the same condition with painted over transparencies, etc.

That is like the F-89 Scorpion in the local park, for the longest time it had the clear windscreen and canopy. The engines were removed and they had wire contractor mesh over the intakes and exhaust areas. A couple of years ago, they went in and painted the canopy area light blue and placed solid metal plates over the engine areas. I guess they were tired of the aircraft becoming a roosting area for the local pigeons.

I was reading up on Parr after looking at your build. One hell of a pilot. He made all of his kills in an exceptionally short timespan near the end of the war on comparatively few sorties. Quite remarkable. Add to that his WWII and Vietnam combat service and he truly becomes a notable pilot from numerous notable pilots of that era.

Great build, the different shades of the panels are noticeable but subtle.
