The Whirlybirds

Post by midnightprowler »

I loved this show as a kid, still do. Built this replica of N975B by combining the skids and instrument panel from MRC's Bell 47D kit and the balance from Revell's H-13G kit. Decals are from Speedway Decals.Image

well if you watched that show as a kid the you are really dating your self. I did too, along with 12 O.Clock High, Sky King, Clutch Cargo and all.. The Bell looks quite smart.

Spot on build! I don't remember the Whirlybirds show, but I do all the rest, Paul. Still watch some Sky King on YouTube.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

I like it! Brings back memories of boyhood... :hmm:

Thanks guys. The Whirlybirds ran from 57 to 60 I think, it was produced by Desilu studios. I started watching in probably in 65 or so. Yeah, I'm I'm old, 56 in November.

I watched a few episodes on youtube this morning after my son got me up at 5 – That’s actually a cool show, just a shame it not in colour. I also watched a bit of ‘Highway Patrol’ and ‘Ripcord’.
The 47 is a great looking aircraft – I do like the enclosed later version they used in the later show’s too.

I was also rather taken with Gwen the A&P - If we'd have had a few more like her when I was in that profession - I might have stayed in :lashed:

That show was way before my time. I am more of an Blue Thunder/Airwolf kinda guy. None the less, I like that model. Nice to see a 47 in something else then a M.A.S.H. scheme.
