Raven over the desert storm - Italeri 1/72

Post by BsYamato »

Started last night this nice kit for a Desert Storm campaign in the italian forume where i also write. Mi first tought was to build one of the two seasprite i have but was not able to found referencies about the specific unit that join the storm, so i went to easier way with this one :)

Box'n'sprues

The kit in the box is the old Esci mould, not bad but some modding is needed to improve final look.

Main pieces under pressure

Image

Rudder , wings and engines cleaned and glued as subassembies

Pencil signs are to manage a contruction variant i have in mind : i'll try to paint wings and fuselage and finish before to glue them toghether. Horizontal rudders will meet the same painting way

Main gear complex glued after a cleaning of mould signs

Main wheels, cockpit and tail (received some strong panel lines engrave)

Thinned the air intake separation panel, vs original piece

Image

Air intake borders too

Image

Opened the intakes end, i'll add something after

That's all for now, i meed to finish in about two months, i'll try :hmm:

Looking good! I'll be watching this one along the way. I have the 1/48 Raven from Academy that I plan to build shortly, as well as the F-111F variant from Italeri (a rebox of the Academy kit). :writing:

Very nice work so far! I do love the F-111. Very maligned during the development process, it matured into a superb aircraft. In the strike role there was nothing better.

Finally updates, scratched the missing IP (i hate decals for IP!) and other details along central consolles and sidewalls. Almost ready to start painting.

Those thinned intakes look very nice! As does the scratch IP.

Why the time deadline?
