I'm sure you all heard of the great reputation the Bandai SW-kits could earn in the past two years. There's an ongoing Uuuh and Aaaah through hundreds of modeling threads out there. I've seen people building them in one weekend plus a complete paint job in less than a week while achieving fantastic results. Since I'm not been able to finish one of my running projects for some months now I thought this bugger could be the right thing for my mojo. Breavehearted I pulled the box out of my stash and started to clip the first parts off the sprues. But let's start with the tempting box art:
All parts were hit with a smooth layer of black lacquer primer. I also added some blaster hits on the front armor plate of the turret and a 'scar' on its left side. By now just a box full of stuff:
A pair of silky black legs. Mmmmh...
To this point construction was nothing less than what I expected. The plastic is easy and clean to cut and sand, construction is a breeze. Pure joy. Period.
My goal is to create a small vignette showing a long abandoned and burned out AT-ST in a jungle environment. Some marvelous laser cut (how appropriate
) paper plants are on their way from Japan to my bench right now. To give the future observers of the scene an idea of the size of the mechanic walker, I'll add this human walker right to its feed:
