Taking shape very nicely there!

It looks odd without the outer wings, but it's all there except for the gear and engine cowl.

True, but the basic lines are taking form. The outer wings, cowl, and control surfaces will just fill those lines out.

Base silver looks great. Are you going to any hairspray chipping on the top?

Thanks SG and John,
John, yes, actually I will brush on some AK Interactives Weathering effects on select areas. The pictures I've see of EI-311 don't show a whole lot of chipping in 1942, although admittedly these are drawings. I can't find any actual pictures of EI-311 so I am going to compromise with some chipping.
The Kate AI-301 I doing next looks to have MASSIVE chipping if looking at actual pictures. Either that or they painted it that way. It's interesting at the hinomarus aren't chipped on EI-301 but the carrier designation stripe is, so...... :hmm:

I like the AK Interactives Weathering Effects although hairspray works just as well. You just can't apply it as specifically as you can the AK.

I'm heading down the final stretch. I sprayed the black nose then the overall grey base coat. The upper surfaces have green squiggles and blotches which I hope to get to tonight.

Now it's time for a wash then a dull coat. The open canopy is molded together so is somewhat interesting to paint. I'll install the wings after the canopy is attached.
