Although it can take away from modeling time, it's always great to enjoy the outdoors and other activities.

We had a heat index of 107 (41.66 C) with an actual outside temp was 98 (36.66). What is this "outside" you speak of?
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..
Re: Model News 1/72 P-51H
Well, I am back in the Netherlands so no more mountain hikes or lake swims for now. But on the positive side I am near my modelling supplies so I can finish this build.

Re: Model News 1/72 P-51H
One layer of liquid decal film was not enough but after two the decals where tough enough to put them on. Now the decals are a bit thick but that is better then having them break up in the water.

That is what I did in the decals for my F-86. Two layers of film, just to be sure. You'll be fine now.

I thought I subscribed to your build earlier, Borg, but I am subscribed as of now (as you are completing the decal applications). Better late than never.
Your paint looks clean and sharp. I understand you faced some challenges with these colors reacting to each other, but the results so far are great!

Re: Model News 1/72 P-51H
I washed the whole plane with an oil wash. Because of the shallow panel lines I choose to retrace them with a pencil where necessary. Lastly, a flat coat because bare aluminium turns flat real quickly unless an aircraft is treated like a modern warbird.
Wash:

Cleaned up:

Shallow panellines:

Pencil lines to enhance:

After a flat coat:
