Me too! "Galaxy Quest" is an amazing tribute to both the series versions as well as the films. Your first round of Bf 109 colors look good, Carlos. Exciting to see Seventies plastic receive such good care.Stikpusher wrote:

Thanks Bruce. I do like my 70's plastic. I have plenty more in my stash...
And yes, Galaxy Quest, both satirized and payed tribute to the original Star Trek crew, and their fans, at the same time. All while having a lot of fun.

Tell me that you have no such dorky soft spots besides this hobby?
Well, the fist paint is on... RLM 78 Blue on the lowers... which revealed some seam clean up needs a little touch up...

Your Mediterranean Sky Blue looks great. Is that a custom mix?
Regarding panel lines
How do you plan to clean the areas up? From my pea-sized knowledge base, I would be impatiently waiting for the Himmelblau to cure than preparing to cover the wings and mask the tail with strips of tape to create a protective barricade before starting clean up. I don't know if that is the best way to effect clean up, so I thought I would ask. I am a master at getting into seams that fill up with plastic, putty or paint, so any thoughts would be appreciated greatly.

Bruce, that is Gunze's RLM 78 Blau on the lowers, from their old Aqueous line that is no longer imported here. Which is a damn shame, as they were probably the best Acrylic line out there for airbrushing. Great adhesion and durability, excellent color selection matched to all the main standards for us modelers.. and tough as nails once they cured. I actually did mask the tail planes and lower rudder after giving the Himmelblau about 45 minutes or so to dry.speedgraflex wrote:Your Mediterranean Sky Blue looks great. Is that a custom mix?

As far as the chin scoop seams go, I'm at a toss up of using gel CA or putty to fill those, allow to dry overnite, then clean them up first thing in the morning.
I was able to get in one more session of airbrushing before work. First I applied dark gray for the canopy interior framing color,

then I applied the RLM 79 Braun on the uppers...

tomorrow I will go back and touch up the fuselage side RLM 78 and the chin scoop fixes before work...

Great work Carlos! The clean lines of the Friedrich are very much in evidence.

Thank you John. Yes, the Friedrich does have some powerful yet sleek lines. I think the tropical two tone scheme shows them off better than most of the other schemes.
