Re: 1/48 Airfix Bf-109F
I remember building one of those with my dad 40 some odd years ago... I will be tackling a few Monogram 1/48 single seaters in the not too distant future. A little dress up work like this one, but nothing overboard.

Thanks. One is the old Hurricane. I am planning on building it old school, for my great nephew, he loves planes. I want to try my hand at a hand brushed camo scheme like I have not done in many years. It's gonna be a ceiling hanger, so no need to go crazy...Mikey wrote:I will most certainly be looking forward to those builds.

Re: 1/48 Airfix Bf-109F
Stuart and Blacksheep, thanks for the compliments. Well last nite after work and first thing this morning was a crash program to get this Friedrich done. Why? Because a local shop was sponsoring a contest, an Airfix Aeroplanes contest to be precise. And I completed this. It shows signs of rushed work, compared to most of my builds. Deadlines are the bane of quality builds!
But here it is at the time of completion

and I did take Third Place in the 1/48 Single Seat, Single Engine Propellor category... not too bad... first and second place were some of the new tool kits, so I feel decent about holding my own against those...

I'll get proper photos up tomorrow. I have a family gathering this evening.

Re: 1/48 Airfix Bf-109F
Well congratulations on holding your own against the new kits! 3rd place is nothing to laugh at. I'm still waiting for the results of the GB on Genessis. I'm hoping for the Top Gun trophy, but I'll be ecstatic if I place at all! The prizes are worth all of the effort I put into my P-40. Even 3rd place! I've yet to find a GB that offers so much for competing and the gang over there doesn't make it easy at all. You've got to be giving it your best if you want to place in the top four slots. I came in sixth in the last one with my 1/72 T-90K.
The best part is the comraderie between all of us. We push each other for that Top Gun slot and it's awesome. You give all you got and you take as many people with you as you can. I love it! It makes the competition all that much harder and so much more deserved when anyone places because you helped them do it. It really makes me feel good even though I haven't won yet.
So be proud of that third place win, mate. You earned it wether it was your best effort or not because somebody thought it was worth it.
