'Spitfire for Independence' 1/48 Eduard

Post by mostrich »

Wikipedia wrote:Israel bought their Spitfire LF IXc from Czechoslovakia in 1948. In 1952 an additional 35 LF IXc/e aircraft were purchased from Italy, at which time the Spitfire in IDF service was known as "Yorek" (Eng. Spit). After a few years of operational use and major action during the 1948 Arab–Israeli War these Spitfires were sold to Burma.
Since I saw the movie 'Dunkirk' a few weeks ago I could't get this bird with its appealing lines out of my head. When I read that Eduard is going to release a limited edition of their great kit for a bargain price the decision was made: get this kit and start building a Spitfire!
The topic Eduard has chosen for this boxing is extraordinary. Four of the six schemes depict planes from Operation Velvetta, a secret service action in which over 30 Spitfire were transferred in a risky flight from Czechoslovakia to Israel. With the other 2 schemes the owner of this well filled box can build one of the fighters that came from Italy to reinforce the IAF. And that is exactly what I'm going to do.

PARENTAL ADVISORY - MATURE CONTENT !!!
The following picture shows a naked Italian beauty

Every romance begins with the first date. Here she is lying on my doorsill, wearing nothing but cardboard

Had a nice Sunday afternoon by playing with some cockpit parts. Drilled out the light-weight structures, added a bit of scratch and glued in the sidewalls
Image

Couldn't resist to do a check of the fuselage fit. The Brassin upper cowling fits well as the rest does. That part should save me from dealing with the centerline seam
Image

Seat's done, too

Had to force myself from the bench to show you what's up. But now back to business.

There is nothing quite like the revelation of a young Sophia Loren lounging about the house on a warm summer day... but wait would she have to be British moving to Italy? The European jet set (actually "prop set" yes) whirls around me.

Since you wrote "Italian Beauty" I now feel that I am cheating on my Dora and she is not to be trifled with, my friend.

So I will "look but never, ever touch."

Don't you dare post "shots of her sprues" now.

Easier to imagine than to have the results shown with your photographic skills.

The Eduard style of plastic looks slightly textured. Is this to hold paint better or is it not textured at all... very uh smooth... yes okay okay okay okay okay.

Now Bruce, this is an Israeli bird... more Gal Gadot than Sophia Loren... :lashed:

Saw Wonder Woman last weekend. Awful movie, to be honest. But Mrs. Gadot is HOT! She has that classy pre-war Hollywood Star face. I'd marry her in a heartbeat.

Oops sorry...

I alluded to this caption above, though! So, this should be "Israeli" not "italian" beauty, correct?

and again here...

"... the fighters came from Italy..."

I know nothing about Operation Velvetta aka Alabama. So I assume the above are/were typos?

I think Gal Gadot is incredibly beautiful. I don't need to know anything to know that, thankfully.

So funny how gentleman get confused when the other sex enters the room. But I have to confess that there are a lot of nationalities involved in this story. British made planes are sold to Italy and Czechoslowakia, from where they're flown to Israel by some bold Czech and Israeli pilots. But in the end there's only one important thing for you to know:

That Israeli girl is hot. Period.
