Eduard Spitfire... Israeli Beauty... what is there not to like here?

Lots of modeling going on in here, lol.
Before I lose myself completely in those hazel eyes, I start to concentrate on a pair of IP panels on my bench. On the left is the one provided with the kit. It consists of three parts and the printing screen is quite noticeable. On the right is the competitor from Yahu. Much finer dials, colors in register and already assembled. Plus it's much closer to the original IP

I really like Eduard's PE and I've been working with it for years but this is clearly a letdown.

Thoughts on modeling. Great panorama. I definitely am not used to RAF cockpit colors. Boy, I spend a lot of time with RLM colors!

Yes, the Eduard instrument panel is a printing nightmare. You are well within bounds to rant over its apparent lack of versimlitude. Is the red warning rectangle really red? The reference indicates otherwise. I read online (see link below) that drybrushing medium gray before a coat of flat will help. John Kim mentions whenever I bring up Brassin IP (Luftwaffe) that he clear coats the finish as well. Did you clear coat on your 190 IP, methinks? Easy answer would be to try for Yahu! I would vote Yahu, or try the grey dry brush, flat coat if you want to fix the Eduard version. I have the link to the article.

Not having tried the Yahu panels, I've found the Eduard panels to be very good... if you address a few known issues. One is the weird purplish hue that they use on German cockpit parts but you don't have that problem on your black panel. The other is the print texture. It's fairly easy to tone that down using a clear flat coat.



But the Yahu panel looks better to my eyes. Does it come already assembled or do you piece it together like the Eduard panels? I think I'd opt to put a flat coat on the panel but leave the gauges shiny, if possible.

Yes, very nice colors! I actually appreciate when threads veer off in different directions. As Torben wrote, somewhat earlier, "This is what happens when a bevy of beauties walks into a room." I am paraphrasing here. He may have ironically suggested that this was a thread about model building (oh he did in response to my Gal Gadot!). Forgive me, Torben. When I looked at your Fw 190 build log it was very focused on its subject. Apologies if I have helped move this log from its intended track. I do find that I will remember the saucier comments on a build log with fondness for the time and place, so perhaps it is acceptable to help add to what is an extraordinary build log documented by an outstanding builder (yes, Torben, you!) by making funny noises from the cheap seats. Looking forward to your solution to the IP very much.

John, thank you for your reply. These are mouth watering pictures of the IP you show us. Is there a link to more of that build, please?
I'm sure the Eduard panel can be fixed with some "basic modeling skills", but why bother? I'm a lazy man with a nice after market part on my bench. And yes, it comes like shown in the picture. You just have to glue it in place. Aaah yeah, I'm lazy...

This is all about modeling, friendship, fun and, since we're mostly gentleman in here, women. If somebody wants to recommend a good drink to go with my Spitfire he's heartly welcome to do so. This is not a stiff lecture about the arts of glueing styrene. This is about a not so grown man having fun with his hobby, while he's chatting with some friends from all over the world. I love it.

Well a Newcastle Brown Ale is natural to go with a Spitfire. For something a little stronger, Irish Whiskey such as Bushmills or Jamison's is a good fit.
And I do agree that those Yahu IPs are pretty impressive. I may have to try them on a future project...
