What sort of mesh did you use Stik?

I'll take a look at the Gun panels. I have to say I quite like the panel lines on the fuselage.

I believe that I used a brass screen mesh. I have a couple different sized opening sheets of that stuff that I found at a nearby hobby shop for just this sort of thing. And I also have been saving various types of fabric mesh items such as tea bags and gift bags.
I have used the brass mesh on a few other projects for the faces of oil coolers





The only other panel lines I might suggest that you scribe would be the engine cowling access panels. If they are not already scribed.

While I'm still waiting for my Promodeller IP and seatbelt decals to arrive from the US, I've progressed the cockpit a little.



I've also painted and detailed (a little) the U/C bay - Pic's to follow once I've washed it.

hey I have a question for you about working with vintage plastic... do you have any issues, i.e. glazing, cracking or chipping, and what do you do to keep the plastic clean?

How on earth do you even NOTICE something like that!?!??! I'm impressed Bruce, it certainly looks like it.

As for working with old plastic I don't recall any issues that I can think off, and I build a lot of old kits. Generally they're in pretty good condition, still bagged etc. The only real problems I can think of are the colours (the white Airfix used for a lot of USN aircraft kits is truely bloody awful), and that sometimes it can be a bit hard (Yes I'm talking to you Mr Matchbox) - other than that I don't seem to have had any problems.... Yet.

Classic decals however, are another story....

Yes I did that on my recent 109 build with Promodeler seatbelt decals. But the tissue paper that I used was too thin and did not give a proper effect. I think the trick is to find the right thickness of paper. Tissue is too thin, but most printer paper seems to be too thick. Right now receipt print out paper is looking interesting. After the decal dries on the paper, hit it with a coat of Future or some other clear to make sure it really bonds to the paper. Let that dry overnite before you trim away the excess paper. And if you feel really inclined, you can add wire anchor points and buckles....
