The KP Models kit is really outstanding! I have no idea where to source this kit in the U.S., though. My aircraft kit collecting knowledge is too limited. Any advice, gents?

Hey guys,

beside this very interesting discussion about those VTOL-prototypes I went on with my stuff.

The little Hobby Boss Corsair was primed with Revell Aluminum 99, salted for later chipping and pre-shaded. Then it got its main color, the very dark sea blue. After that I removed the salt and sanded some areas. Well this one will have a very used look. Also the small parts which haven’t been assembled so far are colored.









 

I also processed my EFA/JF90 by Revell, which is from engineering and tooling not the best Revell kit. There are always large gaps with bad fittings which require a lot of rework. Nevertheless it looks more like an aircraft. Coloring will be tensing because of missing structures and details. I guess it will look boring. Always a risk with some of those old kits.

So far, so good on both projects. Looks like the F4U will be one beat up looking bird from all the salt chipping. I am most curious to see where you go with it. As for the EFA, those modern gray schemes can look quite interesting with subtle weathering to add slight variations to the basic gray colors. Or perhaps one of those garish commemorative schemes?

Bruce, the Bronze-Tiger Typhoon is always an eye-catcher.
But Stikpusher, I am going to build this EFA as the mock-up what the kit finally is. No weathering allowed...
And my Corsair... I guess it won't be a big surprise...
