Monogram 1/48 B-26B WIP- Completed 7/18

Wouh Stik, this WIP is sort of epic!

So many added details, so much to see!

Detailing the interior of a bomber in this scale is like arranging a dollhouse. I'm impressed. Don't know if I would have the patience.

Kari, I dont know if this is epic, an oddessy, or an ordeal at times... this project has kept growing beyond my original intent... But thank you...
Mostrich, I agree about needing patience on this. I know that I have learned a lot on this about scratch work and I plan to put that knowledge to good use on a 1/48 B-17 one day. Not the Monogram G, but the more spartan Revell F... Lets just say that it needs as much help as it can get on the interior....
I'm taking a break from the bench right now and working on this, but will have some more photos to post later this evening (California time)

My friend, doing your own is far easier than it sounds or looks. And far less costly. Foil... tissue... wire... strip, rod, tube, and sheet styrene are all dirt cheap ande much can be salvaged from sources you are throwing away.

Well today has been an off and on session. First off I went back and touched up the fuselage exterior base colors and moved the demarcation line between the OD and Neutral Gray based off of reference photos of B-26s. Then I put that aside to dry. After that, based on research shwing that some of the interior wing surfaces had a clear blue protective coating, I decided to paint the inner portion of the upper wing skin visible thru the wheel well in that color.


I also did that to the firewall portions of the engine- it's hard to tell from period photos, could be right, may not be. I also painted the main engine body in Engine Gray.


Then using a pilot manual excerpt as reference, I went and applied instrument decals to the IP. it's not exact, but pretty close using what I had available


Afterwards I painted the back wiring black and glued it in place onto the cockpit deck.






finally while all that was drying, I went and painted the fuselage invasion stripes. I figure it would be easier to do it now and touch it up later, rather than masking it off at a later point in the build... there is a method to my madness

Remember what your Mama likely said, and what you know as a police officer...."Nothing good happens at night (or after midnight)". Ideas fueled by fatigue or alcohol usually fade by light of day.

Oh I have had had plenty good happen in hours of darkness... as a street cop, lets just say that most of the folks out in the wee hours are up to no good though... I guess thats why I like working that shift...
