Thank you, John. Regarding Alclad Chrome I'd opted against it for the reasons you've stated, but after seeing Will Pattison's Video I'll give it a try. I have to seal it with Aquagloss to prepare it for weathering and protect it from fingerprints. This will take some shine apart, further losses will suffered via oils and maybe a sand colored filter. Sponge chipping with a slightly darker silver in some selected areas is also a possible option. It's an experiment, let's see where it leads me.
The interesting part starts at 39:10. He painted parts with nearly anything what's on the market that's looking silver or crome in the bottle. He's comparing shine, durability and workability. Much useful stuff!

That's the pain with everything made of clear acrylic. It looks so clean and perfect, you don't even dare to touch it. I think small detail work with the AB, when spraying close to the model, is arguable. But before I start with the chrome inferno, I'll cover it with tape.
When you write, “I’ll cover with tape,” do you mean plastic wrap? I tried looking up versions of Saran Wrap available in Germany without success. There must be an equivalent! There is an airtight version of Saran Wrap trademarked as “Stretch-Tite,” and sold in the U.S. Perhaps you will create a see-through variation of your jig... at least it will be better protected. I have often wondered when I see model building in progress photos if these are simply used like a “cake stand” for visibility.
I hope this does not make you regret mentioning Gal Gadot in your Build thread...

I thought about using German kip Tape, a high quality washi paper tape for professional painters. But then I thought "what the heck, I'll use it as a paint jig and so it has to bite the dust".

What I've learned this past hour is that it's harder to photograph a super shiny model plane than a penguin on the North Pole. This is just one of my test shots on my dining table, but I'll do some more in the rare winter's light here in northern Europe.
12/23/2017 - New pictures done:
What you see is Alclad Chrome on it's own black gloss primer (which is mediochre to be honest) and a layer of Aqua Gloss to prevent my fingers harming that fragile paint.

While the crazy cowboy named 2017 rides lonely into sunset, I like to show you where I'm at, in my small modeling world.
Anti glare-shield is painted on along with the elevators, who got a layer of darkened aluminium.
The rudder got a white base for the big belted decals. Found out that it was a great idea to glue the rudder on before painting it. Gave me a nice additional exercise in masking.

I really love the photographs—the backgrounds, too. Great work with the camera, Torben. Such a difference well-photographed work makes. Such an ordeal to mask and paint over the finish itself, I gather. I don't know, maybe this is too much, but I think this is the most beautiful looking plane I have seen. I certainly understand why you made the choice better now that you have revealed the finish.

Taking shots of glossy paint jobs are fairly difficult alright. Reflections can be a bear to deal with (believe me...........I know.). Your work is right up there with the best I've seen Torben.
