Brilliant work! How did you mask off the invasion stripes on the fuselage? I need to do that in 1/72 scale and I have no idea how to keep them straight on the fuselage with all those compound curves.

I use thin strips of Tamiya tape for the edges...anything thinner than 1mm will curve/bend nicely on a 72nd kit (I've done a few!). For keeping the lines straight...I just eye-ball em. Kinda hard to explain the whole process (spacing and whatnot), without a bunch of pics...I'll make a toot here in the next couple days (gonna be dealing with a lot of snow at the airport today and into the wee hours of tomorrow)

Yeah.. Trumpy and Hobby Boss seem to have similar path. Agree on what you said on your observation (at the beginning of the post)

They're basically one in the same...as far as I understand it. I think they are overrated and too pricey for the half-assed attempt at accuracy. I'm not typically all that picky about inaccuracies, but when a company consistently misses the mark on capturing the right look...I frown upon them! I'm sure I'll buy more of their kits over time...but definitely not at retail prices...not even worth close to being worth it. I've probably built a couple dozen Trumpy/HB kits...all but one, came from vendor tables or a very good deal online...1/2 the price of regular retail. Then they're almost worth it!

Very well said! At least as far as their aircraft go. Their armor tends to be better in quality and accuracy.

What a beautiful finish! Your work is an inspiration, sir! Good luck with the snow... that I do not miss... I would be grateful if you describe how you mask invasion stripes, too. I’m preparing to resolve this on the P-47D, and flip back and forth between paint or decals due to the curves.... all the best to you for the holidays!
