The weekend went by this time too quickly.

Only some minor paintwork was done to the following pieces



The main landing gear was finishing up with Vallejos Acrylic metal color "Chrome" + part of the break tube was painted black.


That was more or a less it.


The goal for the coming week is to try to:

- Finalise the the landing gear, e.g. weathering etc
- Finalise the seat belts in the cockpit
- Close up the fuselage halves

BUT, the biggest achievement of the weekend was, that I have finally ordered the decals... :-)

Great work so far and the news on choosing decals makes me happy, too. Choosing subject is for me as powerful as choosing a name. I thought at first the image below was a well conceived diorama by an anonymous modeler—

Are you able to tell if these are genuine?

For the U.S. Bodenplatte capture, interesting that the wing guns are covered! I found an Eduard painting guide, too, which states “OO” is a code used for Belgium (I believe one of your good reasons for choosing this scheme) and “L” stands for Leo Moon; “1-1-45” is the date that the aircraft entered U.S. inventory.

Yes, I believe these pictures are genuine and guess they have been taken a day or two later than the ones previous seen. I wonder if anyone can identify the B-26's in the background to which grouping the belong to. Might the pics are still from Sint Truiden (aka St Trond which is the French name of the same town). The building in the background looks very Belgian. Also not sure what happened with the plane eventually.

I have also made some investigations regarding this bird and found the very interesting article below describing the moment when Colonel Leo Moon got involved in the Fw-190

Colonel Moon tells that he had some issues with the tires and that they spent time to try to find new tires. My guess is that the reason why the covers for the landing gears has been removed? (and that the "Keep Off" sign is gone...)

I have also tried to find the paint scheme, which is not too complicated :-) but would want to know the precise what red to use. You don't happen to see which Gunze colour Eduard is referring to ? Would be great if you can see!

You are most welcome, Kari! How do you plan to glue your aircraft’s fuselage together? I also read both articles and found each illuminating for your project—actually anyone attempting an A-8 should find these great still frames for reference. For your work, these links are invaluable.

Beautiful work on the landing gear Kari! I really like your touches to the tail gear. Posing the tail gear at an angle does give the model a bit of dynamism. Are you going to portray the missing lower landing gear covers?

Thanks Bruce, I have not actually thought anything too complicated/special for glueing the fuselage halves together, except that will be extra careful with the seams. Usually my Achilles' heel in my builds, to make a totally perfect joint. One thing is for sure, the fuselage halves gives an excellent opportunity not needing to glue the entire seam in one go, but step by step. And this possibility I will use for sure!

Thanks John. Regarding the covers, no.. The covers are in my mind a little bit the identity of the Fw190. There shape and size actually look still very modern. Might be I would have done differently, if I would have made many Fw190:s so far, but as this is my first "serious" build, I will let the covers on.
I will use the picture Bruce shared (with the "Keep Off" sign) as my reference.

Have just ordered (will receive next Sunday on a small scale convention nearby) a bottle of Mr Paints MRP-184 Signal Red.
Not 100% sure if it's really the right one, but it should represent color code BS 537 and checking on this excellent web-page, this again equals Gunzes H3 = Gloss Red.
So I don't believe I am too far off....
