Re: 1/48 Monogram Hurricane IIB
Looking back, I found it interesting the bombs were yellow or should I say yellow zinc chromate in color. Does anyone have any interesting history tidbit why they’re yellow instead of the usual olive drab?

I think it was a prewar thing. Prewar US bombs were also painted similarly in yellow. Then later after the war started the camo colors were used in production. Which in the case of the Brits would not have been OD, but one of their camo green colors. Yellow was the designated color to mark high explosive ordnance. As prewar stock was used up, and wartime production dwarfed what had been made previously, the OD/green bombs became what was more frequently seen and accepted for the standard. I don’t believe that the Brits ever used yellow zinc chromatic as a color of their own.

Great gift for your great nephew! I'm sure it'll look great hanging from the ceiling. I used to hang my models from the ceiling!

Thanks John. I had a celing full of hanging planes in my room too before I left for the Army. Most of them did not survive being taken down and put into storage...
