Prague Spring T-55

Post by Stikpusher »

I am calling this one finished. It is Tamiya’s 1/35 kit with Trumpeter Indy link tracks. I backdated the kit a bit to model the version frequently seen in the Prague Spring Invasion photos from August 1968. The kit is a really a gem to build and if I have any gripes it would be about the open periscopes and vision ports. Nothing is provided in the kit to fill them. I ended up using Microscale Krystal Klear and Testors Clear Parts glue.
I took some new photos today with better light.

When looking at your pictures one thought comes to my mind: "With this vignette Stik absolutely upped his game!"
Super clean build, the white stripes look like painted on in the field with a broad brush. Very cool. On pictures of the time the tanks look like they were in pristine condition when they entered the streets of Prague. So no further weathering needed.

Thanks Bruce.... but so far, it’s only finished... the Nationals are not until summertime.... right now I just have it sitting in a nice enclosed display shelf safe from marauding cats....

Very nice! I've found, especially with armor, less is more. I especially like the flag. It adds a touch of historical significance.

Yes, and my house can get dusty for some reason, so with Nationals many months from now, this is the best way to fight that.
