Howdy!

Finally the cockpit was attached to the fuselage, this so I could finally continue to build the bird

Now it starts to look like a "real" 190. :-)

Some filling and sanding excersise the coming hours...

I have also been testing the pretty complex work with engine panels. Test fitting showed, that the panels fit very nicely.

But test fitting with the engine resulted in some sweat drops.. Will not be an easy task, very tight, too tight fit with the engine.... :hmm:

Well, let's see what next

The design looks delicate; do the two side pieces support the engine itself?

Nope, the support of the engine is entirely held by attachement points to the firewall (via a truss)

However, those two pieces need to be glued very much correctly aligned so the rest of the panels would fall nicely in place. Even if those two have an attachment point to the engine, they still feel a little bit "fiddly". It's like a 3D puzzle.. One of the upper panels are also "resting" against the upper part of the engine

Here the last pic of the test-fitting before everything collapsed, not enough masking tape...

Here with the BMW inside...

INDEED !

Thanks Bruce, I have also seen this build passing by, a really great idea !!

What I am not that fond of in this build, is the too strong panel shadings on the red-side.
The red color should be "factory new" and if visualised panels, then much lighter shading (if any)

I was going to mention that the panel line shading makes no sense and detracts from the project; and I completely agree with you about the U.S. red paint being different—less orange, more or less a primary red—it’s actually quite beautifully done! The painters were making a red plane with a simple geometric statement and practical wing walking area of black. This is a monochromatic painting...
