Re: BF-109 G-2 TROP

Cockpit got some more work, and a coat of Tamiya Clear, and got a subtle wash, then got picked at with a silver pencil. I’ll wash and attach the seatbelts this weekend.

Very nice cockpit, the PE parts ”melt” nicely in the cockpit. You have done excellent masking with the fuel pipe, clear part is crispy clear, nice nuance of the yellow color. All in all great result Kenny!

Many thanks, Kari! That one was a fun cockpit to build, for sure!

Re: BF-109 G-2 TROP
Those lil' 109 cockpits are packed with details aint they? Nice work Kenny.
Re: BF-109 G-2 TROP
Yeah they are! I love it! That was fun, just relaxing and picking them out. And I’m legit impressed with how well Eduard did with packing so many details into there.mustang1989 wrote:Those lil' 109 cockpits are packed with details aint they? Nice work Kenny.

Re: BF-109 G-2 TROP
I've got the Eduard kit in the stash. I'm watching a dual 109 build on another forum with a guy building an Eduard and a Tamiya 109 side by side and I've gotta say that both have their good points. Eduard seems to have the detail edge where the Tamiya one has the ease of building (imagine that) as well as some good details.
Re: BF-109 G-2 TROP
My first model coming back was the Tamiya Emil. And youre right- it does build-up easily. It’s a good kit. But for the same money almost, you can get the Eduard Profi-Pack with all the PE stuff and masks... for me, I definitely prefer the Eduard kit for those reasons. But they each produce a good model, no denying that.

Re: BF-109 G-2 TROP

I spent more time enjoying the peaceful weekend with my family, and fishing, than I did building. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
However, I did install the seatbelts, and washed them carefully with dark brown Tamiya panel line accent. Then the whole thing got a coat of Tamiya Flat Clear.
Also, I went ahead and started the small subassemblies which normally get put off and subsequently don’t get enough attention paid to them. It’s like, I can almost see the finish line and POW! It hits me- “Gotta so the landing gear and stuff.” Then I rush them, install them, then start the decals and weathering, and then I accidentally break them.
Not going to happen this time around. They’re in varying states of painting and detailing now, after which time they’ll be set aside for safe keeping until the very end, after I’ve done all the decaling and weathering, and installed the pilot’s antenna, and balances.
