John just knocked that out of the park (and yes I read about the extra bomb panel which is of course important to note) but still... WHAM! That is all kind of assembly experience meeting some color ideas adding in skills, such skills.

Stop! I am fairly sure it should be there as it was standard on the 109G series. It was used to drop the belly tank if needed not just bombs. I will check my sources shortly.

Lots of exciting projects for the future. But my plate is already full and I've probably gotten ahead of myself by jumping into this G-6 build so impulsively. The 1/32 Trumpeter 262 build is still #1 on my priority list (it's being documented on another site) but I've been stalling out on the Aires resin cockpit/wheel well set. The 1/32 Tamiya Corsair is probably #2 but I'm scared of starting that one. The Special Hobby Tempest was just an impulse buy that I saw floating on EBay waiting to be grabbed. It is the 2nd Hi Tech Mark V with the resin engine, which poses a dilemma for me... I don't think a Tempest with the engine showing as particularly attractive. Maybe I'll build it buttoned with the engine posed alongside?

Thanks for the comments regarding the G-6 cockpit. That IP instrument panel is all Eduard. I just put it together. I do highly recommend spraying any Eduard pre-painted PE with a flat coat though. I've already removed that center panel. There was enough variation in the G-6 to go either way.

I figured out how to bypass my mysterious inability to access the SPAmodeler website at home by using a proxy. I don't have enough computer savvy to figure out the problem but at least I have a fix.

I've glued the cockpit in place and have put the two fuselage halves together. Fit is very good. The Bf109 has panel lines along the glue joints of the fuselage halves so that will somewhat simplify the clean-up process.

There are some gouges where my Tamiya cutters pulled out small sections of plastic when attempting to remove the remnants of the sprue attachments. Minor but I keep conjuring up images of Bruce's Gods Hands cutters in my mind. These gouges and other seam imperfections have been filled with Mr Dissolved Putty. This view illustrates another reason why I love Eduard. See those small airscoops near the nose? Those have been molded open. Most 109 kits will have these as solid bumps, even in 1/32 scale.

Some views of the cockpit from the outside. Without any aftermarket additions, the Profipack cockpit is suitably busy, especially if I go with my intended plan of closing the canopy. FYI... I forgot to glue in the front cockpit bulkhead. It's just a plain wall located just forward of the foot pedals. You'll have a hard time making out the pedals let alone that dark wall behind. FYI... I purposefully paint my Luftwaffe foot pedals in a lighter shade of grey so that they have better chance of being seen.

I'm going to let the Mr Dissolved Putty cure for a full day before sanding. So I poked around the box to see if I could occupy my time with some minor task. I noticed that the prop blades were on the thick side, especially on the trailing edges. So thinned them out using sandpaper. I can probably get them a little sharper. It's a small detail but what is a model but the sum of a bunch of small details, eh?

Nice work on the cockpit and a handy hint for the rudder pedals. I do love the Eduard 109’s (I may have mentioned this) and I got my hands on the new Tamiya release today. In all honesty after a quick look I was a little “meh” over the release. There is nothing wrong with it but it seems a bit basic compared to an Eduard Profipack.

Keep up the great work.

This is a step I always love to see, the cockpit finished and installed in the fuselage. :shoutout: That looks great!

How did you paint the oxygen regulator? What is your approach? What gear? What paints? This is gorgeous work!
