I put so much of myself into my painting. Don’t get me wrong, I put a lot of myself into building too, but I recognize that I have a slight bias- the painting.speedgraflex wrote: KennyX
You are farther along in building than I, for sure. You quickly ramped up to speed by completing a series of mostly Eduard mostly Luftwaffe subjects, kits and subjects that are demanding of a certain skill set. Seeing you build with such confidence has been a great boon to everyone here, so you know sincerely what you do is appreciated.
What you are doing with painting reminds me of a body shop guy my dad used; the guy told me there are two kinds of painters, ones who take the car apart to paint it and others who leave it as much together as possible to avoid screwing up additional areas.
That said, I am positive I will follow one of John’s builds from beginning to end just like he did, his steps are always clear.
What I always appreciate is clear purpose—and I’ll take a moment to thank Carlos, because he is abundantly clear why he does what he does; and that matters.
That and calling a radio a radio.
My father is a Physicist and and Engineer, and my mother is a Witch, Horse Trainer, and an Artist, I’m more like her than my dad in many respects. I program computers for a living mostly, but the algorithms I come up with are more “artistic”, if that makes sense.
I digress. What was the point I was making?
Ah yes- how I paint. I dislike when engineering and art have to happen at the same time. I don’t want to build the canvas while I’m painting on it. But that isn’t to say that other folks shouldn’t or that my way is superior. They should all do it however they want, and mine is only superior for ME. That said, there are advantages to painting ahead of time, during the building phase, as I am clearly seeing. And I’ve done a bit of that. What sways me is my fear or ruining the hard work and that piece of myself that I’ve imbued upon my subject during the painting.
In short: the old boy Kenny X is scared of fucking up the paint job HAHAHAA
AND TO YOU, and Carlos, and Kari, and Kahuna, and John, and everybody else here- I’m having a blast watching you build and paint in your own unique ways, I’m learning, and thoroughly enjoying myself.
