Yeah, you wanna know what else? You did a kickass job on that! Major surgery like that on a Hase IP, that’s rad. And it looks great! Excellent work.speedgraflex wrote:Stikpusher wrote:I don’t think that I will build another Mustang with flaps up again... this just keeps getting better and better!

So... this is my IP mashup—Yahu IP inset Hasegawa IP. I modified the Yahu, by trimming the sides down, then I carefully removed (and I mean carefully underlined underscored do not scream) the bezel of the Yahu IP... and then I just spent an hour hollowing out an opening inside the plastic kit part and set the Yahu behind this peekaboo style and that is where I am at; 10:30 pm, right now:
Hasegawa 1/32 N.A. P-51D "Cripes A' Mighty" IV SN 44-14906.

Great work on that instrument panel Bruce! Did you get that Revell Mustang??? Are you tempted to start that one... lots of nice goodies for the Revell Mustang, including Alexey's beautiful flaps!

Fantastic work on that IP Bruce!!! Wow man! Looks lifelike.
Der Beetle Bus. Man that's a project in the makin's right there. The OOB version of that thing looks hilarious but I tried to do it some justice. I'd like to back up and regroup for another stab at the Pro Street version of it. I had some paint incompatibility issues and shelved it for a while.

Thank you for your support and critique and eyeballing these details!
I definitely feel a bit mixed about the design. The original kit design could have simply been followed with punched decals and paint. The valence or whatever the trim represents should be flush, which it was on the kit piece before I carved out the center. However, I think this is a case of lateral movement ie it is decent enough to work for now. Best part is to have the kit frame fit in to the fuselage without modifications. The Yahu paneling is flatter than the actual design, and there is no sense of the relief that comes from the controls having clear dials held within metal frames. That is one issue with buying off the internet.
Also, Joe.... I’ll be there when Der Beetle Rises.

My electronics classes of the late 70’s are only a vague memory... yes the occurred, but what I now recall...
But that jar does play some sort of critical roll in the circuitry.... if only I could remember its actual title and roll...

I’d suggest Testors basic red. The stuff in the little bottles either enamel or acrylic that come in sets of basic colors.

I’m with Carlos on Testor’s red. I’m looking at a bottle of that in enamel that I have on hand and it looks like a good match.
