And under rather favorable conditions. The aircraft was brand new when recieved late in the Battle of Britain. It would be replaced in a few months when the F-0 model was introduced in early 1941. Op tempo was slowing down due to deteriorating flying weather and the reduction of large scale offensive strikes. There was more time for maintenance, and the Jagdwaffe did not have bad logistics at that time and place. Not pristine, but not having the far more worn look that 109s would take on later and elsewhere. The pre war, early war high quality production was still in effect.

I’m keeping the weathering very light, on this one. And like I said, concerning the variation in tones on the bottom of my aircraft, some of it will smooth out when I clear coat it, and some more of it will be tamped down when other colors, and decals have been added.

That said, this is still an experiment, it’s the first time I’ve done this, and I don’t know how the end result will be.

Many thanks, Carlos. That means a whole lot. Doing a Luftwaffe mottle camo job for the first time has been a challenge but I’m happy with how this is coming along. Just a little bit more work on the fuselage aft of the cockpit, first to lay down the RLM O2, and then the light blue to get in there and break it up and bring the demarcation up just a tad bit higher. Then the wings, and after that, the clear coat.

And you know what th best part is, my man?

I HAVEN’T DROPPED THE MODEL!!!
