The 352 FG

The 352nd Fighter Group were based at Bodney, Norfolk from July 1943 until November 1945 but in the winter months of 1944/1945 detachments moved to bases in Belgium to provide extra air support to ground forces during the Battle of the Bulge and to assist with the airborne assault across the Rhine. The 487th Fighter Squadron was the only Eighth Air Force Squadron to be awarded a Distinguished Unit Citation, usually an award reserved to Groups. The Squadron was given the DUC for destroying 23 enemy aircraft in a single mission on 1 January 1945. Major George Preddy, the highest scoring P-51 Mustang in Eighth Air Force, flew with the 352nd Fighter Group.

Hi! Thanks, Kari!!!! I built the new cockpit platform. I am waiting for the seat and seatbelts to arrive.

I don’t know what it is, precisely, about these photos of your work that you post, but they do it for me in a big way and they inspire me, too. I think it’s awesome that you’re giving yourself a do-over with the seat, getting it exactly how you want it. Whatever you gotta go, my man. I support it 100%. Good work on your platform, too!

Ditto, Mr X. Your work inspires me as well! The great challenge for me (maybe us all) is confronting a blank page. I am working on an illustration for a crime series set in Bellingham, Washington. Artistic freelance/ronin work means “Sad Clown” drawings one day, video editing, cinematography the next day... I wanna always keep creative no matter what... that is my manifesto.

Man. You’ve got some stones on you. I’m an artist myself, I love to draw and paint, but man, I don’t have the cojones to do it freelance, like you do. No way. I couldn’t! It’s amazing that you can and get to!

Torben turned me on to Romain Hugault’s work. He did the poster for Planes of Fame this year:

Kari,

That camo would be a great choice for your own Lightning!

I’m not normally a radial engine type of guy. But on that aircraft it’s hella sexy!
