I definitely feel like a different modeler now, than I did when I began this build. And I’ve learned a whole lot not just about different modeling techniques, but about myself as a modeler.

This has indeed turned out exactly as I’d pictured it in my mind so far, and the feeing I get from such an accomplishment as that is amazing.

I’m going to do another Galland aircraft I’ve decided. I have this one from the Battle of Britain, and I’d like to do his aircraft from the Battle of France as well. That Tamiya kit was my first kit after coming back to the hobby. And I did an absolutely terrible job on it LOL. I feel like now, I could do much better. So I’m going to. The more I read about the Battle of Britain and the Battle of France, and about Galland in-general, the more I like him, the more fascinating he is to me. So I’m reading all I can find about him, and studying the Emil even more thoroughly.

Gee wiz. I was just looking back from page 1. This build sure happened fast. Holy cow.

Well this certainly isn’t optimal:



Noticed it this afternoon, after letting the flat clear de-gas all morning.

So I masked it and gently massaged it with the finest-grit sanding stick I’ve got:



Very slowly took it down the the plastic, little by little:



And then re-primed and re-painted. No harm. No foul. And here we are:



I lost a little decal by the canopy there in the process. Masking tape must’ve pulled it off. Could have been a whole lot worse- there’s a lot of more important decals in the vicinity which had tape on them...

...anyhow, what happened was, a couple of rounds grazed that area of the fuselage in a dogfight is all. Galland’s came out of it A-OKAY. They fixed the airframe, and re-painted. Just takes a little sanding, a little patience, and a little imagination.

Thanks buddy! And here’s the best part: I did not let my OCD play into it! I caught myself repeatedly going into my den to check on it, to reassure myself that the problem wasn’t getting worse. I’m not allowed to engage in “Reassurance Rituals/Behaviors” anymore, because they actually make the OCD/Anxiety worse because they reenforce that cycle. So here’s what I did: I didn’t even research a fix for this, I just made it up on the spot. I told myself “Look, bro- I validate that I’m upset over this but I’m not going to agonize over it or check on it every 20’minutes. Instead, at the next available opportunity, I’m gonna mask the offending area, sand it, re-prime it, and re-paint it. That’s the plan. Feel better immediately because there’s a plan. Feel good executing the plan. Feel awesome when the plan comes together!”

BOOM! Models and improved Mental Health, my man. I am making tremendous strides in both areas of my life. And I’m relieved.

Today’s been a really great day.

I really do! ... I can’t figure out what the Hell that shit was! Either a stray glob of setting solution -unlikely, since I looked it over thoroughly before I sprayed the flat coat, or maybe the humidity caused a glob of flat coat to spew forth from my airbrush while I was spraying it and didn’t notice. Who knows LOL. Anyway, I’m glad it all worked out. These little mishaps and dealing with them, honestly, make it more fun. Plus, they help me with my cognitive behavioral therapy, too, so I got that going for me, which is nice.

The origins of any blems aren't as important as the recovery processes are and it looks like you've got that one down pat. Blemishes in paint jobs are what I deal with most in modeling it seems like. It does make for a lot of work in the recovery area......................especially when a paint job has to be stripped in the upwards of four friggin times!!!

I must’ve stripped all the paint off that rudder three or four times. I was having a tough time with the yellow, building up the patience to spray the yellow down over the black. And then the damned area where the kill marks go. I ended up saying “Hell wth it!” and doing that part with a brush.

It happens. And the painting part is my favorite. I can live with certain construction issues. Small ones. But a blemish like that in the finish, I can’t abide that LOL. It would’ve tormented me if I left it like that. and it was fun to fix. But I’m going to take great care not to let that happen again.
