Impressive work going on as always Bruce - I'm sure it'll look fantastic when done. I've always liked the markings for the Blue nosed bastards of Bodney.

I found the conversation on perfection interesting, and it makes me laugh when you guys pull your builds apart - you've no idea how good you guys are! Compared to yours my paltry efforts look like they've been knocked together by my 7 year old - but hey, I'm fine with that - I thought about becoming a Perfectionist but I became a Vegetarian instead. The only perfect thing in my life's my Wife.

Cheers back to you, Stuart!!! I was wondering how you were doing, and I am grateful you read through all of this thread. I still haven’t finished a plane though, so finishing this project remains a critical challenge for me. Next weekend is a “Famous Planes” Show at the Aircraft Museum in Chino, California. I have never been to an air show before and was thinking I should go. Chino is about 2 hours from me.

I do remember in 2015... seeing, hearing and feeling a very shiny Mustang make several low level passes through Westwood Village. What a thrill that was!

I would say that if you get a chance to go to an airshow you should take it - especially if you've never been before!

As for finishing? Whilst I agree that it might be good for you, and from a personal view I'd love to see the finished results of your labours, I wouldn't sweat it too much. Finishing is obviously not what drives you to build and forcing yourself to do what you don't want to do sometimes can be a major mojo killer - just do what feels right.

Apologies, John. The free hosting service “TinyPic” deleted my photos. I was using their device since I have not been able to use Post image, either, since their domain switch. I am not sure what to do to restore the images. I do not want to dump the thread, but I hate having the imagery be subject to economics and metrics and greed by image hosting sites.

Sorry to hear that Bruce. I've "accepted" the Postimg.org to Postimg.cc switch and that seems to have been the most seamless transition. I still have a bunch of older threads between the Photobucket fiasco and the Postimg.cc switch that have dead photo links but... such is life. And no guarantee that Postimage won't be affected by a future change.

Why can't you use Postimage.cc? It seems like that would be the best route for you to go. Pages 1-10 of this thread still have photos viewable and they are on Postimg.cc.

Let’s see; I ordered a new Barracuda Details Resin seat and Red Roos Hamilton Standard blades from Ultracast, seat belts and canopy masks from HGW and scribing supplies from USA Gundam Store. I am going to start practice rivet sessions this week. I also need to sand down even more of the fuselage factory riveting job, then do a smoothness check with Mr Surfacer 1500, followed by a finish smoothing session before I draw the guides.

By steaming and hand forming I managed to tighten the wing root gaps to a margin that will work with Milliput Superfine as a filler.

The Bodney blue nose research was confusing. Was there really a RAF Deep Sky Blue so close to Prussian Blue? I finally feel close to a solution by using Prussian Blue 6 by Liquitex. I will try the color out over a navy blue color coat, perhaps. I also need to see how Liquitex reacts to UV cutting flat clear finishes; maybe this acrylic needs to be finished with clear floor polish.

Awesome sketches, Bruce! Did you see all of the Revell P-51 builds over at LSP? Lots of references to the radio boxes that might be helpful.

Thanks so much for checking in, John. I definitely bookmarked Jan_G's "Hurry Home, Honey," which is extremely well done. I have seen title listings for a lot of new Revell P-51D builds but Jan_G's approach featured the cream of the AM currently available from HGW, Eduard... and Radu from RB made a very good comment as well as correction to an area of the cockpit flooring, too, but by no means have I done enough research... so thank you ever so much.
