Aright! We’ve got landing gear installed, weathering around the undercarriage, and exhaust stains.

I guess I have to stop putting off the installation of the mass balances and pitot tube. Crikey that scares me LOL

It seems like the closer I get to the end of any given build............the more I stall out. It's as though I don't want the build to end at all.

This crate is looking to be all that and not a bag of chips but the whole damn party mix.

I’ll get those little fiddly bits attached tomorrow. It’s time. I’m thinking if I just tap the locator holes ever so slightly with my little hobby drill, they stay put without too much fuss when I glue them in. I don’t want even one stray drop of glue anywhere on that paint LOL

ALSO- on the suggestion of the fellas here, I purchased a new CA glue in case that other one I had was indeed a dud (which I believe it was indeed).

Hey K- I wanted to respond to what you detailed earlier about OCD, but I was bogged down by how to reply. Let me state that I relate; and what Torben sent ya and what Mustang Joe wrote are also very relatable. You did well.

Ultimately it depends on the individual. I’m not the kind of man who tells another man what kind of art to make or enjoy. Granted, there are some artists who’s work I found to be distasteful, like Mapplethorp for example. But that’s my opinion on the subject matter he made art of, and not an indictment against him as an artist as he was very talented, whether I like his work or not notwithstanding.

But getting back to the individual. A rational person can model whatever they wish. Axis, allies, race cars, whathaveyou. And his motives are his motives. I certainly wouldn’t think of somebody else as a warmonger for building models of military aircraft or armor. Heh, I’m certainly not over here, building Messerschmitts and opining about how Germany should’ve won the Second World War LOL. That’s not where I’m coming from at all. For me, I just like Messerschmitts. Emils in particular. And right now I’m intrigued by Galland. Later on in my modeling career, further on down the line, I’m sure my focus will shift. Focus always shifts.

I guess we all have to reconcile things in our own way. And I appreciate people who can look at their own art and ask the tough questions (I certainly do with mine, and it can be hard sometimes).

Yes sir! I will. Just gonna focus all my concentration into that job, take it slow and steady, and try not to goof it up LOL I’m sure it’ll be okay. And it’ll sure be nice to have a model leave the work bench. I don’t exactly have the best batting average in that department right now.

I woke up this morning and decided “Today is the day,” that this Emil would leave the work bench.

I enhanced the exhaust stains just a little bit:





Next, I attached the mass balances and pitot tube. The pitot tube which came with the kit broke as I was cutting it from the tube. So I used the one which came in the Tamiya Emil I built (and subsequently broke) which I neglected to put on there -dumb luck, that:



After that I got down to the business of attaching the pilot antenna. I used my Scientific Anglers 5x tippet material for the aerial. I figure it’s ultra-low memory, and superior knot strength which has served me so well fly fishing might just get the job done here too. Didn’t have need for knots, and it worked very well for my first aerial. I employed my fly-tying vice to help out:





And I was listening to The Jesus And Mary Chain the whole time:
