Nice work Bruce... very cerebral as always! I'm not quite understanding your dilemma with the fuel tank. Isn't the fuel tank sitting on the same piece of plastic sheet as the cockpit floor? Won't the cockpit floor be securely attached at the fuselage sides as indicated by this photo?

Why do you need additional support for the fuel tank?

John,

Welcome back! I was worried about the cockpit falling down—in particular the fuel tank section which seems to be pretty slippery without tabs to hold it in place! Would you recommend making a pair of tabs to lock the section against the sides of the fuselage?

You can see how the cockpit drops without any support (or glue or tape) to hold it in place.

It looks like you have workable contact surfaces to provide a good glue connection between the cockpit floor and the fuselage sides. Yes, it may slip when dry-fitting but glue should change that right? Dry-fitting will only get you so far since adding more and more components without glue results in an inherently shaky structure.

Image

After gluing and you find that you'd like to strengthen the bond, you can always beef up the connection. I've used pieces of sprue below but you can use other things such as 2-part epoxy or Milliput.

Yes, that is a D... three guns per wing, so it’s not a B/C. And obviously not an Allison engined Mustang, which the 4th FG did not use.

Thank you so much for confirming; sharp eyes; and I just learned a few things about spotting guns on an airplane by the way you identified the aircraft!!!
