Do you know anything more about that particular aircraft, Carlos? Bu No 17740 of VMF-214 is the Corsair that I am planning to build.

That PBY photo is a great reference for Interior Green. And your mix came out pretty good. Once all the weathering and such are on, it should look just right.

And for a little more inspiration, the most famous group of Corsair pilots ever, the Black Sheep...

Some of my IGX pals are really into those guys. Know everything about them. They were stoked when I started this build. That picture’s awesome. And thanks for the recommendation on the paint mix I like that way better than what Tamiya calls for. Way better match to that reference. I appreciate it!

Whooo were those are some great photos! Thank you, Bruce!

Boy did those aircraft get beat-up. Gee wiz! The first shot... it makes me wonder how I’m going to represent that paint chipping. Can’t use a silver pencil for that! Heh, I’m breaking new ground with this one!

And you’re right, that last one is beautiful.

That last one is the money shot! I wanna do that—just flying over unending ocean—damn that really sets the tone of being in the Pacific for me! Hurmmmm.

John I sure don’t. My brother in law was all into the Blacksheep and did a lot of research into Boyington’s aircraft many years ago. Unfortunately there was a falling out many years ago and we do not keep in touch. On a side note, the jeweler who made my wife’s wedding ring, just happens to have been a Blacksheep pilot in WWII. He was a friend of my wife’s family, but passed many years ago.

Thank you Carlos! Fundekals has an informative instruction sheet for their Corsair decals that I will be using as my primary reference.

Today’s work consisted of putting some flat black on the IP and other consoles, as well as picking out some detail with my brush:

I like PE details. Because dry-brushing this kind of stuff has never been in my wheelhouse. It ain’t easy. So we’re Trucking along, slowly and surely.

GNR provides the music:
