More of the box art from Revell's vintage 1/32 line up. I built all of these kits as a kid, except the Mustang and the P-38.

...and that was absolutely beautiful, John. Time travel? I guess the memory of the actual plastic inside is... less spectacular but wow what a template for a series of retro builds you mapped out!

:shoutout:

My research—based on conversation with Carlos who actually covered the spectrum of 1/32 vintage kitsets with emphasis on Hasegawa; but wow, Revell! Good.

This tangent takes me back...

My dad and I always built stuff. After I’d graduated from Legos and the Erektor Set, it was model rockets. For those we had to go to the hobby shop. There were several in the Fairfax/Manassas/Arlington VA area we’d hit with regularity- I’m talking three or four visits a week to different ones, I’m not joking.

The one in Arlington I remember in-particular. The selection of scale models was awesome. They had everything. Tamiy. Revell. Monogram. Hasegawa. Lots of Hasegawa. And naturally we bought scale models along with our rockets. Back then I liked helicopters. Airwolf. The Huey. And a broad selection of McDonnel Douglas choppers. I built airplanes too though. And the box art. Holy cow. I’d just take kits off th shelves and look at the art. Sometimes I’d bring tracing paper and trace the airplanes, then re-draw them at home.

Those were good day.
