Re: 1:48 Tamiya Corsair
Blackburn - Big Hog Eagle Cals 1/48 decals. Do not pass go, do pick up a 1/32 version in the near future. That is, if you want an opinion or are just ruminating? Have you cut belts yet?

Re: 1:48 Tamiya Corsair
Oh I’m definitely all about opinions AND ruminations. And HELL YES I want to do this aircraft again in 1:32 before I die. I could do this one “BIG HOG” and the 1:32 “Ole 122”. Or the other way around... I guess opting for having both is always better.
Haven’t cut belts yet. Got a sitter and tok my wife on a date last night, and today it’s been all about my babies. Probably will tonight after I work on the IP and washes if I have time.

Re: 1:48 Tamiya Corsair
No worries. I am definitely considering Eagle Cals in 1/32 for the Vintage Corsair Build. I plumb forgot to compliment your wife on a great costume and subject. Good luck.

I’ll tell ya. I wish she could’ve worn that costume when we went out LOL
As to the markings. I’m leaning toward Ole 122 for this one. BIG HOG will be the 1:32. Because you know, it’s bigger, that’s one thing.

Re: 1:48 Tamiya Corsair
I must’ve given that IP decal about ten coats of Micro Sol before I realized that I could use one of my Tamiya sharp cotton buds to push the dials into the recesses on the IP face. But I got the job done and it doesn’t look bad:

I also applied a wash. And noted how the clear coat toned down a lot of my silver pencil paint chipping effects:

Also, I sprayed and clear coated the Zinc Chromate in the fuselage yesterday, and those areas got a wash today too:

No harness work today. I’m very tired and I think I might be coming down with a cold. Either that or it’s bad allergies.

Re: 1:48 Tamiya Corsair
Thanks Chief! I’m gonna go to bed early. Gotta rest-up because tomorrow is Deadlift Day at the gym LOLspeedgraflex wrote:Rest and heal, bud.
ALSO- I’ve collected a few more things to attempt to make harnesses with! The aluminum peel-back seal from my French Market Coffee & Chickory cans might be a suitable material too. I’m gonna try several different things when I sit down to work on it.

There ya go Kenny, start thinking outside the model box for supplies and materials.
And that IP looks sweet! Great idea to use the Tamiya pointy swabs to get those decals snuggled down.

Thank you! And I’ll tell you- I’ve been a PE snob since I started, due mostly to the fact that Eduard’s PE IP’s are so nice, and also because I didn’t have the experience with using IP decals.Stikpusher wrote:There ya go Kenny, start thinking outside the model box for supplies and materials.

That said, I gotta tell ya- Tamiya’s decals are pretty good and getting those decals on there wasn’t a chore at all, and I’m pleased with how it looks. For an OOB build at 1:48, I’d do it again, sure.
