Such amazing photos, Carlos! I have been listening to Bill Conti’s Score for “The Right Stuff” as I wage war on my gut. You look great as well! Very fit and happy! Thanks to all for permitting the thread to go where its tracks will. I was going to update with what... waiting for the weird floral smell of the AFV Club’s plastic (different colors from different molding sessions?) to air out. I am soaking sprues in water with a “little” baking soda mixed in... and I do notice a difference in the slipperiness of the plastic as well as a reduction in floral, um stench. So posting photos of this process seems unworthy of our time here.

I had to look several times at the sprue in your update, Stuart... your painting is so smooth I thought at first you painted the entire sprue. It took a moment to suss out that you are painting individual parts. Brush painting is amazing... I’m so glad you still practice this art.

You can gloss coat, apply decals, seal them in with another gloss coat, wash, then paint details, flat coat and weather.... or paint details, gloss coat, apply decals, then seal in with another gloss coat, wash, flat coat, and final weathering. There is more than one approach...

Thank you Kari. It was a perfect Florida autumn day, simply gorgeous weather. If it was not so far away, I just might move there when I retire. Florida does have its allures.

Thanks Carlos - it sounds a daft question I know, but it produced a bit of head scratching. I think I might take the 2nd path - that seems to make sense to me. I was wondering about doing a little dry brushing on the raised areas with a slightly lighter tone of the base colour. Do you think it would be better to do that when I do the detail painting, before I do the final flat coat, or when I do the final weathering?
