I always paint my D-day stripes, I've never had success with decals. If this was 1/72 I'd just brush paint them but on this build I am wondering if rattle cans would be better We'll see.

I hear ya Stuart. I built the same issue of the kit and felt the same way. I have a Supescale decal set that I ended up using the markings from an RCAF squadron from the timeframe of Operation Varsity for my build. Aren’t the kit markings for an immediate post war timeframe scheme anyways?

Cool - good option Stik. Yes I think they're are just post war, which is probably why I don't fancy them. The blue nose is ok but I just don't like that checkered banding.

Damn canopies. I hate working with canopies. You did a good job on that canopy. And I’d like to just take a minute and give you a shout-out for going that extra mile and sealing that gap. I wish I’d done that on my last Emil.

Anyway, good show, as they say! And I like the marking scheme you’ve picked too. Man, this is going to be sweet!

Thanks Kenny. I'm not very good with clear parts either - it's an area I need to improve. However sealing the gaps with PPP or another water based putty is pretty easy - it's just annoying I forgot to do it before painting, as I now need to go over what I've messed up.

Apologies for being quiet guys - it was my birthday on Saturday and I've been doing a lot of family stuff - I had had some very nice bits of plastic and PE (and resin) land in my lap though, plus a couple of nice books.

I've also been pushing to clear a load of the older builds off my bench (the matchbox biplanes, Spitfire and Phantom) - mostly because I'm building them for GB's elsewhere and I'm running out of time, but mainly because I'm sick of the sight of them and I want to start working on some nicer kits for a while. I'll stick up a photo maybe but they're not really worthy of the hallowed pages of SPAM and really not reflective of my current abilities - the Fury is one of the worst builds I've completed in years!

Red Dwarf... a show I need to watch! I just powered through Life on Mars, Ashes to Ashes and Ripper Street during my illness. Great comfort seeing fast Cortinas and bare knuckle brawls streaming at all hours...

Happy belated birthday and no need to apologize. Family comes first always and there's no better way to celebrate a birthday than with family.

I know how you feel about being sick of seeing old projects on the bench. I'm at that stage myself and if it weren't for this stupid cold; I think I would have knocked a few out! I'm gonna try again.

And feel free to post pics of what you're working on; even if you don't think it is worthy of these boards. Believe me, it feels great to me to see all work from everyone. I post all mine that don't measure up either, after all, it's just a hobby and that's how I share it with everyone.

Not my best work but I guess they're ok. I'm NOT a natural biplane builder, But they have at least got me to get my head around building them, so I may do some more.

The Phantom has also progressed (pics to follow) and my decals have arrived for the Typhoon.

Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes are superb programs - I'm really glad you enjoyed them. I've not seen ripped street.

I have however been a lifelong Boy from the Dwarf. I think my favourite series were three and four.

Those look good enough. And I’m in the same boat with you about biplanes... But I bet some basic photos can be made to make those biplane builds look even better against a plain background

Thanks Stuart! So far I've been engaging in a massive assault on this cold and right now, it appears I'm in the mopping up stage. I even managed to get something done the day before my first treatment. Pics forthcoming.

As for your biplanes, your paint work is fabulous and more importantly; you managed to align the top wings quite well. That is one of the toughest things to do in a biplane build. I built a Supermarine Stranrear some time back; it was the largest biplane I ever tackled at the time. That was a challenge to finish, but I'm thrilled with how mine looks.

This model is a little over 14" in length:






I actually had a ton of fun building that model. Now if I can do one looking this good despite my shortcomings as well as the kit's, you can do just as well on all yours as you've shown. Keep posting these Stuart, I love seeing your work.
