Looks like you're doing very well with this one so far Bruce.

Thanks so much, Joe. I am almost ready to primer those fenders. I still need to sand away the ripples from adding three coats of Milliput. I also thought I saw cracks in the white frosting but these were handling marks. It was almost midnight when I finished and my concentration was limited.mustang1989 wrote:Looks like you're doing very well with this one so far Bruce.
I still really want to build a dirty as f—k Shelby modified Daytona car here instead of the clean n tidy factory one. I dunno. The engine is probably larger as well... but I really want to build the engine that comes with the kit.... still the drama of these Daytona cars blackened with race dirt is impossible to ignore!

Ah... race cars before they were covered with all sorts of stupid stickers... nodody cares what sponsors the car has. Only about if it does well, and if so, who’s the driver...

Let’s bring those days back, Carlos. I sprayed two doses of 1600 Grey Surfacer on the hood, sanding in between coats with the Gunze polish cloths. One side is good; the other is marginal. Some tweaks are gonna be necessary, although if you look at the Shelby modified Daytona cars, the Mk II versions, he modified the hood with two oval blisters on top, chopped and channeled the removable center section and added air scoops on both sides.Stikpusher wrote:Ah... race cars before they were covered with all sorts of stupid stickers... nodody cares what sponsors the car has. Great job on flaring out those fenders!
Far closer to the real thing than the original kit parts...

Thanks for your encouragement, Carlos. I am slightly constrained by the flat kit sides; I already have built out the top lip of the fender far wider than it should be, but the wheels as far as I know do not turn on the kit, so whew... otherwise I would have to chop the sides and rebuild the fender. And at that point... there is no point. I would just set this puppy aside and start looking for that even bigger Trumpeter limited edition and who knows how much that would cost...Stikpusher wrote:Great job on flaring out those fenders!

I have a bit of feathering to do... you can see it in the areas that blend around the headlight covers.

It will all pay off in the long run. You’ll get there.
