Bad news.

I just discovered there is a rear tire missing from the kit—I just spent an hour looking around eBay to see if there was a 1/16 Revell/AMT/MPC donor kit tire available. The only possibility is a pair of fronts from an AMT Shelby Daytona kit. However, the kit is expensive! (60 bucks)

Oh no, but no white flags yet, absolutely not!

Make your own resin part! You can make a silicon mold of the other rear tire!

I have understood it's not "that difficult", requires of course work, but in this particular case, it's worth it!

There is some seriously beautiful 3d modeling and printing going on! Also based on measurements, the kit wheels appear too small. We shall see!!!!

KIT TIRES

Hullo—went with red orange despite being told by online sources that the tertiary colors are red. This is the whole “Do you want to make the Enterprise as depicted onscreen or the actual model before the lights?” debate. The photos make the red look orange. I followed a DWP truck which was gloss white with red security markings on it—I could see the shifting of color darker to lighter. I can still add red, but I want to test “proof of concept” here.

Hi Bruce! I'm not familiar with auto racing so I probably can't offer anything substantive but I enjoy creative modeling when I see it. Sorry to hear about the tire but molding one in resin using the remaining kit tire was what came to my mind too. My only other thought was from the radio-controlled side of things.

John—hullo! This is where I go hide when I burn out with aircraft details. I read what you wrote this morning and will head “above the line” to the aircraft for a repeated dose of your work. Actually I was thinking based on what you wrote about using brass rod (or is it tubing?) to create a rotating tail wheel applies directly to the rear axle of this project... so I definitely agree with you about creative modeling—your work is that way! Good stuff.

My dad was into cars and boats. I imagine that is what most dads are into... but mine was really competitive with racing. He broke bones as a racer (he was kind of a good natured oaf, bless him) and I was thinking as a baby my first car ride was in the front seat of a American Motors Hurst SC Rambler, going to the store. My dad was probably going for smokes and my mom wanted some “oasis time” alone to herself.

I am rambling... lol.
