Sponge-bob flies his Corsair! Love it. . . .

That looks great and is one of my favorite a/c.

It’s a great aircraft and this kit has been so much fun to build. I actually like it so much I bought two more- another F4U-1A, and a Bird Cage.

Here’s today’s work:

1. I sanded and assembled all of the flaps, and set about test-fitting them, and the fit it just fine.

2. Next, I bombed the hell out of her with some silver.

The silver will dry overnight. It’ll get a coat of Mr. Hobby Super Gloss Clear tomorrow morning. That’ll then get 24 hours to dry. After that, it’ll be time for hairspray and the Yellow Zinc Chromate.

Oh I do like that color for the natural metal undercoat. It looks dead on!

Kenny,
Is that a step on the underside photo of the inboard flap? I don’t think they were present in the -1 or -1A, only the -1D (despite what Tamiya moulding tells us). Just checking.

Kent-

That hole is to be filled, according to the instructions. I just haven’t gotten around to it yet.

Alright! After giving the Super Clear Gloss as much time as I could to dry (I ended up shooting it last night), I went ahread and did the first layer of chipping. Hairspray X Tamiya YellowGeeen, and a small, wet brush. I’m happy with the results. Another coat of Super Clear Gloss goes on tonight.
