Lyle—I was actually worried I beat that front end to death, so running out of sandpaper came at the right time! Besides sanding a “few small places” I just wanna move on to the rear scoops Shelby added which is the second most distinctive feature of the car, finish those and move on.

At least I think that should be the plan. Let the front end rest and go hammer on the backside; the distaff. See if those scoops are any easier than doing the hood was. And I know I learned better how to cut and measure... also you can plan all you want but until you fit something it don’t mean jack.

Well, not you can sand it to a smoother finish... the primer does make it look better in one shade at least...

I read what you wrote about black primer in your Warhawk thread post. I definitely feel that about how thinned out black primer needs to be in order to function. I still prefer using white, followed by grey... Tamiya’s white primer may be stinky and blows everywhere in a mist, but when it sticks, it sticks, and when it reveals, it reveals.

It is nice to have a grey primer coat to look at, that’s for sure!

I am hoping this doesn’t turn into an eBay slug-fest. The kit may be collectible but the partially built status, plus the condition of the box would turn aside collectors with deep pockets and leave it in the hands of builders—specifically, me!

The issue with old rubber tires—as I am sure you are aware but I am just now aware of it—is melting and becoming deformed. Unfortunately the fourth tire in the GTO kit suffers from this issue.

Melting tires is something that I’ve heard of. I don’t know how common it happens. But I’m sorry to hear about it on this one. If you can get one good one, you could cast a set of four in resin if you want to go down that route,,,
