Managed to get the rear carburetor throttle return spring and bracketry put into place and cleaned up that front fuel line a bit this morning. Pretty much all done with the engine now except for the carburetor air horns.

Your engine work is pure class Joe - I've said it before but that looks like it'd start!

Bruce: I'd say there's about 4 mm between the tire and body. I'm pretty careful to leave some room there because I've seen some folks do a lot of overkill and get the tires too close to the inside of the fenderwell which would realistically prevent a 1:1 scale vehicle from steering at all. Just adds that much more of a touch of realism to it.

Stuart: I appreciate your comments. Engine building is my favorite kind of work both in the 1:1 scale world and here in the 1:25 scale world. I try to make it as functional looking as I can.

Thanks for your reply, Mustang. I think you probably figured I asked because of my own sutuation, and whenever possible I hope it is acceptable to keep asking you! I am truly grateful. I need to know more about clearances especially because of the big racing tires I am trying to fit into the GT40.

Interesting point about your feeling for engines. This clearly shows in your approach. I always felt your affinity was for surface effects—your final finish coats are just so darn good.

Thanks Bruce. I honestly feel like my engine finishing coats could us a little work myself so I'll be making some modifications on the next engine build. For instance, the wash is supposed to bring out the shadows in a dull form. Mine are glossy. I'll get it all toned down for the next one.

Off to the interior folks. I've got a lot of work to do in there and am still planning the scheme out. It's one of those "I'm making it up as I go" things.

I did pick up a couple of goodies for it though. Surprisingly enough there is no radio in the interior and to make matters worse there's this big square plate at the front of the console that's...…………………...blank???

So I ordered something to fill that space:



and some nice "Punisher" floormats to go along with it.
