Quick ID in combat is critical for both the shooter and the aircraft. The Sicily fiasco with the airborne troops was one of the big factors in coming up with the invasion stripes used for the Normandy landings.

Because... “friendly fire” isn’t...

Ya know...…………...all these years and I never knew that about the red/ white stripes but I was well aware of JV 44 and the planes that it was made up of.

Sharing the love on the bench this morning. AKI acrylic glosscoat for the Tiger and some touch up work with RLM 76 on a filled panel on the G-5:

I love the grey scheme on the Gustav! And the Tiger looks ferocious! I remember building a 1/35 Tamiya Tiger I kit as a child... it was motorized and had a wired remote control.

Thanks guys,
John, I think I also built that motorised kit. Well most of it, I recall my father had a hand in it somewhere!

Just a little progress. The main wheels attached at that jaunty angle and the lower brake lines atttached (the port one has now been aligned):

Good gravy! I have to keep reminding myself that this is quarter scale work! Lovely job of the details, Kent. Ya know, I almost was hired on for four days in Oz, end of September. I actually applied and received my visa, and I was planning what books to read on the 22 hour flight. Backing up to the armor, that is also just superb... and I really miss not being able to focus on the Walker Bulldog. Superb work, Kent. (Apologies my reply seems to be all over the map....)

Make more models!

Thanks Bruce,
A pity you won’t make it to Oz. Maybe next time, the door is always open.

I have my son’s 10th birthday sleepover tomorrow, so I spent a little time tidying the bench and putting away most of the dangerous stuff, just in case one of them slips past the intricate traps I have laid. I thought I would dabble in my “side, side project” and do a little work. I added some PE and the plastic control column. As the focus is the paint job, the canopy will be closed so not so much attention to detail will be needed:
